The opening ceremony and reporting conference of the examination for accreditation on Speciality of Chemical Engineering and Technology was held at the international conference center on 12^th, June. 9 experts from MOE Engineering Education Accreditation Group came to DUT and started the examination for accreditation on Speciality of Chemical Engineering and Technology. This is DUT’s first speciality for engineering education accreditation.   

      The accreditation system of engineering education which derived from the west is a recognition to make sure that the talents cultivated by high schools live up to the standard. China started to adopt this accreditation system from 2006.

     DUT applied to the Ministry of Education for the accreditation of the speciality of chemical engineering and technology in this January and made sufficient preparation for it.

      So far, DUT is the sixth universty in China which acquires the accreditation for this subject after Tianjin University, Tsinghua University, China University of Petroleum, Beijing University of Chemical Technology and East China University of Science and Technology.

      It is said that to 2009, China will have 30 accredited subjects and will apply for admission to the Washington Accord. It is also estimated that up to 2011, the students graduated from the accredited schools can get a passport in the overseas job markets which means an equal treatment as the other member countries.
