After 2 month’s research and discussion, the closing ceremony of the 14th undergraduate education and teaching seminars was held at the international conference center on 20th, June. DUT leaders Zhang Dexianig, Ou Jinping, Shao Longtan, Xue Guang, Guo Dongming, Zou Jiyan, Lu Zhongchong, Li Zhiyi, Ning Guiling as well as the cadres of the organs and schools, members from the consulting team of undergraduate education, teacher representatives, retired teacher representatives and students representatives took part in the ceremony. The ceremony was hosted by President Ou Jinping.
DUT Party Secretary Zhang Dexiang gave the final report entitled “conscientiously implementing the spirit of the 17th CPC National Congress and striving to open up a new prospect for the undergraduate education”. He said that through the meticulous organization of DUT and schools and the joint efforts of all the teachers and students of DUT, the 14th undergraduate education and teaching seminars came to a close. It was an important meeting in the DUT history of undergraduate education. Making “implementing elite education and building the new system of undergraduate education in the research university” the theme and focusing on the “one goal, three models, one system”, the seminar, which lasted for more than two months, explored on 7 topics and discussed on 34 themes. Through the discussion, the whole school reached a consensus and built the basic framework of the cultivating system for undergraduates. The seminar reached the predetermined target and achieved fruitful results.
President Ou Jinping said this seminars further emphasized that talents cultivation is the primary goal of a university and undergraduate cultivation is the basis of talents cultivation. “cultivating elite talents and implementing elite education” gives answer to the question of “what kind of talents to cultivate and how to cultivate” and fixes the position of our university to cultivate elites in a variety of fields. A good unviersity should light the dreams of the students and cultivate students that have working passion, a strong sense of responsibility and will contribute to the country and society.
At the closing ceremony, QU Jingping, the president of the school of chemical engineeing and Hong Xiaona, the president of the school of humanities and social sciences gave final reports. Li Cheng’en, the dean of DUT administrative office, made final reports on behalf of organs. Professor Gao Zhanxian, the winner of the national excellent university teachers, made a speech on behalf of teachers, and Yang Fan, the president of Student Council, addressed as student representative.
